Job Title: Self-Contained Elementary Teacher 2026-2027 school year
Position Summary
Terlingua Common School District is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Self-Contained Elementary Teacher to provide high-quality instruction across core content areas in a supportive rural school setting. The ideal candidate is committed to meeting the academic, social, and emotional needs of all learners while fostering a positive and structured classroom environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide self-contained instruction in core academic areas (Reading/Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies) aligned to TEKS and district curriculum
- Develop and implement engaging, differentiated lesson plans to meet diverse student needs
- Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and monitor student progress
- Create a structured, nurturing classroom environment that supports student growth and behavior expectations
- Collaborate with campus staff to support SPED, 504, ESL, and intervention services as applicable
- Maintain accurate documentation, lesson plans, and student records
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents and guardians
- Participate in professional development, campus meetings, and school activities
- Uphold district policies, professional ethics, and confidentiality standards
Qualifications
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate (preferred)
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction for varied learning levels
- Commitment to working in a small, close-knit rural school community
- Experience with multi-grade or self-contained classrooms preferred but not required
Job Title: Teacher’s Aide/Paraprofessional
Position Summary
The Teacher’s Aide supports classroom teachers and campus staff in providing a safe, positive, and effective learning environment for students in a K–12 educational setting. The aide assists with instructional activities, classroom management, student supervision, and administrative tasks to help meet the academic, behavioral, and developmental needs of all students. This position works under the direct supervision of a certified teacher and complies with all district policies, state regulations, and campus procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist the classroom teacher with daily instructional activities and lesson preparation.
- Provide individual and small-group support to students under teacher direction.
- Reinforce classroom instruction and learning objectives.
- Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, buses, and during school activities as assigned.
- Help maintain a safe, organized, and positive classroom environment.
- Assist with classroom management and behavior support strategies.
- Prepare instructional materials, copies, bulletin boards, and classroom resources.
- Support students with special needs, accommodations, or language assistance as directed.
- Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and participation when requested.
- Assist students with technology, assignments, and classroom routines.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and records.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, administrators, staff, students, and parents as appropriate.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
- Perform other duties assigned by the teacher, principal, or district administration.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree or completion of college coursework preferred.
- Prior experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred.
Job Title: Substitute Teacher (PK–12)
Job Description:
The Substitute Teacher provides temporary classroom coverage for PK–12 students by implementing lesson plans left by the regular teacher and maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment. The substitute supports student learning across grade levels, follows school policies and procedures, and ensures appropriate classroom management while fostering respectful student behavior.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver instructional plans and activities as provided by the classroom teacher
- Maintain classroom order and ensure student safety
- Support students’ academic and behavioral needs across PK–12 grade levels
- Communicate relevant information to school staff at the end of each assignment
- Adhere to campus rules, confidentiality, and professional expectations
Qualifications:
- High school diploma/equivalent or higher
- Ability to manage classrooms across various grade levels
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Flexibility, reliability, and professionalism
